Explore the capital of Windhoek or the charming coastal town of Swakopmund, which boasts remnants of the country’s German influence. Track the mighty Big Five on a safari through Etosha National Park, discover the Skeleton Coast strewn with shipwrecks and of course, scale the dunes of Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert for the most epic panoramas. Ride the Dunes
Adventure is around just about every corner in Namibia. Whether it’s tackling a challenging 4×4 route in a remote area, hurtling down a dune on a board, skydiving above the desert, or fast-paced quad biking, there are endless ways to experience the Namibian landscape with some adrenaline-inducing fun.
Spend a Day in the Sand
One of the best ways to enjoy the stunning views of the Namib Desert is to climb one of the dunes. The most popular is the 170m-high Dune 45, which lies halfway between Sesriem and Sossusvlei. After you reach the summit, awaken your childhood memories by rolling back down the dune.
Visit a Ghost Town
Explore the historic ghost town of Kolmanskop just outside of Luderitz in Namibia – a photographic mecca in the middle of the Namib Desert. Complete with a ballroom, theatre, hospital, casino, school and bakery – Kolmanskop’s story is one of incredible wealth, prosperity and sudden decline.
